A police beat reporter at a newspaper in northern Mexico is missing along with her infant son, and they are feared kidnapped.
Reporter Stephania Cardoso works for the El Zocalo newspaper in the northern state of Coahuila state, a little less than 200 miles from the border.
She and her daughter disappeared on Friday and Cardoso's mother says she
fears the woman was kidnapped, because her house was ransacked.
State and federal prosecutors said Tuesday they are investigating the case.
The independent international Committee to Protect Journalists says the Zetas drug cartel kidnapped and killed Zocalo reporter Valentin Valdes Espinosa in January 2010.
